The purpose for this event it is just to show the
relevance of working together and they needed collaboration because in that way
they will be able to mobilise resources, also they will be able to move forward
strongly as opposed to competing and try to hold each other down.
The Society Activation Management and Empowerment Non-
profit company partnered with the HR hotel to make sure that
these kinds of events happen especially because caring for the aged is not
something fancy. It is heart-warming to see some institutions which are
actually mobilising resources, taking their time look after our elderly.
The RH Hotel General manager was coming on stage to clarify the purpose of the event.

This hotel donated a condemned linen to these old,
aged homes, due to the hotel standard, immediately when there is a small stain
they can’t use that, they put it away. RH hotel maintain standards. So, they
saw a chance to donate this condemned linen, which will help lot of people.
RH hotel Pretoria is willing to help those who are in
need for help. In the past they have done it in Alex, it was a children’s home.
They promised to do this more often going forward, they don’t want to wait for
one day in a year.

Musa Sibisi, the RH Hotel General Manager of the
property said, “it’s not all about what we are getting in profit, we must
always go out and assist those who are in need and in our community everyday
there is someone who is looking for help especially from children, GBV victims,
as well as old age homes. We must be there assisting.”
Dr Langi Malamba, the social worker and she works for
the Society Activation Management and Empowerment Non-profit company she said, they
have a huge number of people that they are looking after every year, as an NPO
myself I know the challenges that other NPO’s are going through to find things
like bedding. If you are doing a residential care, it almost difficult because
you need to change bedding every day, so the warranty is very high, and I
thought if we can assist them, it will go a great deal.
Mrs Mogomotse Nomalanga, the owner of the Noma Care Centre,
the old age home in Ga-Rankuwa said, “I appreciate a lot because we have been
struggling, we don’t have enough funds to buy sheets, towels for elderly
people. We are unable to get donations, things are expensive including food.
Elderly people need to go to the clinics and hospitals, I use my petrol. There
are those who doesn’t even have families when the passed on, I am the one bury them,
so it is very difficult.”
RH hotel even offered to give them transport to carry
all this items if they don’t have it. They will arrange to go and visit these
two centres so that they can see where exactly these items are going.
After the event was successful, everyone was happy about the donation that was given by RH Hotel.
