Most students are
dealing with stress at campus. On the 17th of August 2023, DED
presents a Poetry and dance concert afternoon at Telkom residence of Tshwane
University of Technology.
The aim is to boost the
mood of the students during the period of stress, trauma and grief. Writing
poetry can help you get to the heart of your thoughts or feelings that you
don’t quite understand.
One member of the
Directorate of extracurricular development (DED) and the MC for the day, Tugela
stated that they also offer classes to students who need more clarity in their
modules. They also offer Mr, Mrs TUT and plus size events to campuses.
Students from different
campuses came to engage in this concert to perform, expressing their feeling
through poetry, healing themselves through music. This was a great session students
needed this. School work is stressing, so sometimes you just need to distress
and take a break from everything.
Khakhu Nevondo (19)
said, “The event was perfect and successful than I thought it would be, and I
would like more events like this to happen or to occur.”
Precilla Mathebula (22)
commented that the event went well, and the music was nice even people who
performed were cool.
Mbali Sfunde (20) said,
“What made me enjoy the event is that I got to see people events, people are so
talented. And the event was much interesting, and I really enjoyed myself today.”

Events like these are
expected to occur on campuses. Music reduces anxiety, blood pressure, and pain
it also improves sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.
